From La Paz there were 2 main things we wanted to do...
1. Gravity Assisted Mountain Biking down DEATH ROAD - the worlds most dangerous road
2. Pampas (jungle/grassland - on the beni river in the amazon region)

Death Road
We went for the best company, given that if your bike or guide wasnt up to scratch - you could topple over the edge of the cliff anf fall somthing like 4700meters to your death!!

We geared up with helmets, gloves and jackets and cycled 40K - mainly downhill - with some stop offs along the way for photos.
The ride took approx 4-5 hours.

After the ride we finished up in an animal rescue centre to have lunch and see the animals..
They had something like 350 animals residing there at present.
Monkeys...

naughty monkeys that not only fought with themselves but terrorized the poor dogs!

Turtles

and beautiful parrots..

The idea was that once the animals were fit they were released back to the wild - however the parrots obviously thought life was too good and didnt leave despite being completely free to do so...

The bus ride back to the top was much more scary that the ride down... especially when there was traffic coming from the other direction.. the road really wasnt that wide..
our bus and guide - Marcus!!
