So here we are in BA. Flight was cool (included film, dinner and wine) taxi ride from airport was smooth the driver was from BA and gave us a load of useful tips.. Hostel was nice in the centre of San Telmo and the guys that worked there were very helpful.
Now lets start on the city its self.. Well lets just say after hearing so many good reports we were a little disappointed.
The city is huge, it has plenty of historical buildings, cathedrals, shops, plazas, bars, nice restuarants, green parks and rivers..
..... but then so does london - although maybe not the pink buildings!!
There were very few stray dogs unlike the rest of south america - but there was dog poo and pigeons everywhere!!
It was easy to get around, we used the subway and over ground trains to visit different places. We are not quite sure what we were expecting but we were expecting something more... we heard there was music playing and dancing in the street..
if there was we didnt find it!!!
So after our late arrival we wake up we went to explore was directed by Rodrigo our personal FREE tour operator. We wandered down the waterfront and grabbed a lomito which was like a freshly cooked BBQ steak bagettuee from one of the many stalls....
The water front was cool reminded me of being along the thames in london but no where near as nice and none of the old bridges of history that london has....
One evening went to see a tango show with a 3 course dinner.
The show was 10 times better than the show in Brazil... the dancers could actually dance and the band were amazing. We were not allowed to take pictures of the show so we took them of dinner!!!
The show was quite expensive and then we got stung by our two cocktails that cost about £20!! Ouch!! (pants totally pulled down)!!
The next day we managed to find our way across the city to a pretty part called Tigre. The main attraction was the river. There were river taxis, boat trips and many rowing clubs...
After seeing the tango show we fancied our chances at being able to cut a few shapes, pull out a few moves etc... Rodrigo once again offered his services and organised a private lesson with his girlfriend. After a 2 hour lesson, Terry though he was the bollocks despite not being able to remember the order of 4 routines!!! We didnt take any photos but we like to think we looked something like this....
In reality however, this was probably a truer reflection......
The rest of the time in BA we spent visitin other parts of the city and even treated ourselves to a few purchases in the shops!!
There were some parts of the city that were very modern and others that were hand painted different colours..
Terry also wanted to watch a football match but the one run by the hostel was too expensive for a game of football... and then we ran out of time!
Next off Mendoza for wine... wine and more wine!! (Becs favourite thing - behind terry of course)!!
