We caught the overnight bus from mendoza to baroliche. Buses are beginning to feel like our second home! As we got closer to Bariloche, we enjoyed the stunning scenery....

San Carlos de Bariloche, usually known as Bariloche, is situated in the foothills of the Andes on the southern shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake and is surrounded by the Nahuel Huapi National Park.

Not only does Bariloche have beautiful lakes and mountains but usually a booming ski centre and trekking, mountaineering facilities as well as numerous restaurants, cafés and chocolate shops - yum!!

Chocolate shops galore...

And weird knitted tree covers...

The central plaza even looked like a ski resort - building all finished with wooden beams

So the first day we decided to go and view the famous lakes..
First by chairlift....

And then by cycling around the lake..

The circuit is 27Km with many, many tough hills.
and many view points....

We also took a little detour to a Swiss viliage....

The road was so bumpy and uncomfortable on our behinds. When we finally arrived there was a little swiss market but nothing much more.

The hills became a bit too much for Becs towards the end....

Skiing..
We met an Irish couple called Keith and Orla, and the 4 of us headed up to the ski resort together on the bus. We managed to hire all our gear as cleary we were unprepared for skiing!!
Neither Bec, Keith or Orla had ever skiied before. So Terry had the advantage over all of us..
The 3 of us had a lesson while Terry played on the big slopes!

After lunch Terry took Keith up the big slopes whilst the girls were left behind on the baby slopes.
Keith the good pupil...

Becs, not quite mastering the turns or how to stop, managed to take out a group of men at the bottom of the slope - was like a full strike in bowling!!

So the only big slopes Becs and Orla did was going up and down on the chair lift - to take pictures of the boys showing off......

For Keith's first time he did pretty well and was beaming from ear to ear all the way home! that evening we went out for a few drinks - the irish way....

And said goodbye to our new friends.

The following day whilst we waited for the bus to our next destination we checked out the chocolate shops... yum yum....
