After 3 days in rainy brisbane we headed to surfers paradise for the build up to christmas.
Arriving at surfers the weather not much better we went for a stroll on the beach...

God knows how our quiet stroll led to us booking a bar crawl.....Having not been out much (at all) since being in Aus we got bullied into an organised bar crawl in Surfers....
After we paid our $30 each we were informed that the crawl started at 5pm....???!!
So we met up with the crawl about 7pm, had our free drinks, went to a number of bars and clubs with girls wearing corsets and their underwear and was home by 1am!!! Hard Core Party Animals!!!

Having been in bed by 1am we were up at 9am and ready for our surf lesson!!!
Unfortunately no pics of us trying to stand (and more falling off) but a few pics of proof that we gave it a go!!!

Surfers is not very beginner friendly - the waves so strong it took me most my time trying to fight against the waves to get my board out to waist height!!! however with some 1:1 coaching from my very ancient but lovely instructor i was able to stand up a few times!!
massive waves...

On our 2nd night in surfers we met some guys in the hostel - Danny and Zac. From Norfolk and quite possibily the strongest farmer / countryside accents i have ever heard!!! they were obviously sick of each others company because they talked and talked to us for hours, with Terry and I just nodding and wondering whhich one to look at as they spoke at the same time!!! Little did we know we would bump into them again soon on our journey and become good mates.....

Next stop Byron Bay for Christmas Celebrations!!
